Office redesign for Aspire PC in Sheffield.
Making the existing space work for a growing team.
Aspire PC came to us because their Sheffield office no longer suited the size of their team. Desks were grouped in clusters across the main office with the printer among them, and there was no reception area for visitors to arrive at.
The kitchen and the breakout space were hardly used, because neither was a comfortable place for the team to take a break or have an informal chat.
The brief was to make better use of the floor space they already had, and to give the office a look that reflected their brand.
Four changes to how the office works.
We split the open plan office into clear zones, so each part of the floor has its own job. A reception desk now sits within the open plan space, which gives visitors somewhere to arrive and helps mark out where one zone ends and the next begins.
We chose the wall colours and finishes to reflect Aspire's brand. Deep blue walls run through the office, with coral seating in the bay window and an orange feature wall behind the meeting table.
We designed the breakout space to work as somewhere to have lunch and as an informal meeting room. Giving one room both jobs is a better use of the floor than two rooms that would each sit empty for part of the day.
We specified the furniture alongside the layout and the colours, so it suits how each zone is used and sits comfortably with the rest of the scheme.
An office laid out around how the team works.
The new layout gives each part of the office a clear purpose. Visitors have a reception desk to arrive at, and the team have a breakout space designed for lunch as well as quick meetings.
The whole design works within the floor space Aspire already had. The photographs further down show the reception and the seating areas as they were finished, alongside our 3D visuals of the wider office and the kitchen.
Room for a growing team in the office they already had.
When a team grows, it's easy to assume the answer is a bigger office. Before looking at new premises, it's worth checking how well the current space is being used. At Aspire, the kitchen and the breakout space were going largely unused while the main office had become disjointed, so the work focused on a layout that made better use of the space they already had.
